The Theosophical Community

Official Social Network of The Theosophical Society in America

I tried to get a common definition of Theosophy. It was a tough task that bore no fruit
People definitely are impossible to define, let alone what they think theosophy is

Yet here we are. Trying, each in our way, to show and explain Theosophy.

I say give up the title

All religions will eventually merge under the influence of science and history

If you do not know what you are protecting, how do you know it is worth protecting?

I am no Jesus
And I don't think that we can be in total control of our life, let alone society around us.

But to give up so quickly is not right either.
I can hear you through the words that you write
I feel something within me when I see people celebrate or mourn.

There is a connection. I know the connection, but I do not know the language it is expressed in.
I know the main letters, that's all.

The other is the person you see when you look in a mirror

Jacky , you say the right things, whatever a name, actions need to be protected.
Love and Peace and Harmony are established in the first rule, faith, hope and forgiveness are leading to the nucleus of brotherhood also selflessness(means altruistic), friendship. All are causes from Love, Peace and Harmony.First of all we need that to have in ourselves, otherwise we cannot that be for others.

But as we all know, people are people and not angels yet.
So there are who like to bring positive actions into bad daylight, we say here.
Also they have done with HPB. While she give her whole life on writing, but happely not for the cat its violin. She experienced the sixt principle the one of mediumship and black magic and only if one have experienced , one can learn and warn the other and as we know a warned man counts double.

Theosophy , not theosophists(some yes) is based on LOVE and HARMONY.

As Jeff placed this 3 rules

1. is based on love, because it does not make any discrimination and separation.
to make that brotherhood, seems to be utopic, but not impossible, but needs time and that time goes very slowly.Only miswriting in this is the word SEX that need to be SEXE.

2.Encourage te comperative study of religion, philosophy and science

this three are necessary for knowledge and wisdom.

3. Investigate the unexplaned laws of Nature and Powers latent in Humanity.

learns, warns and shows everything inside and hidden in our world, nature and mentality.

Theosophy is just a word. I study to get close to the Mother Religion, the Archaic Wisdom, the Esoteric Tradition. I protect Life by what additions I may add to the Shield of Good Will enveloping us.

I like your honesty Jack

While Theosophy is based on explaining religion, you have the guts to say that you do not know where religion fits in.
I think you are a true theosophist. One who sees beyond the singular, and can appreciate the night sky.

Dear Jackie

It is those words that you used that represent theosophy " love, peace, faith, hope, forgiveness and selfishness".
But how can you prove that theosophy actually represents these words?
To do so, one must relate to our own understanding of all these words.
Where does it say that theosophy is about love or peace?
It is my hope that in time people will begin to understand the depth of theosophy, and how it explains what we thought was impossible to explain

Keep the faith sister. It is what carry us along.

"If you do not know what you are protecting, how do you know it is worth protecting?"

Regardless of the meaning of Theosophy, or if my religion is complete truth or a fabrication, I choose to protect the ideas that come from it. Love, peace, faith, hope, forgiveness, selflessness, the list could go on and on. I agree that we don't need a title. The knowledge, the friendship, the strength and peace that I find here with all of you. To me, that is worth protecting. You (and your ideas and beliefs) are worth protecting.
