A highly advanced civilisation existed all over the Indian subcontinent much before the arrival of the white race to India and the creation of the Vedas. That is the Indus Valley civilisation. And the religion of Ahimsa(nonviolance) or Shraman/Jaina Dharma was the religion of those times. The Vedic Hindus vandalised their places of worship and murdered many monks all over India.
The 24th Guru Mahaveer was the contemporary of Sakyamuni Budha. If you are interested in reading about Indian spirituality, then I recommend you not to miss this wonderful heritage of the indigenious Black Indians.......

I was a lost youth dreaming of a not-so-distant past. My gods were rockstars, it was only much later did I discover the importance of not identifying the messenger with the message. Isn’t creative output a reflection of the divine, art expressions being a yoga? I did lots of meditation at Shambhala, where one thing Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche talked about was Authentic Art - and he had written plays, poems, etc. but I think he could have easily just stayed a meditation master.
