Rene, thanks for this homage to a lesser known Theosophist & writer. His esoteric/action/adventure novels should be better known, he was as popular as his contempories Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sax Rohmer, and Jack London. These authors shared the sam...

Hostage held on the Afghan/Pakistan Frontier

This hostage-taking case is what I am working on these days, difficult because of the fighting along part of the frontier, but others may be interested in reading about the Kalacha people. The fullest description is the French text I give in the note of my presentation, but there is a good pit in English if one Googles Kalasha. Best wishes, Rene

Dear Colleagues,

I would be pleased if you can help in this effort to liberate a hostage on the Pakistan-Afghan frontier. Best wishes, Rene Wadlow… Continue

Khalil Gibran: Spirits Rebellious

Khalil Gibran : Spirits Rebellious

Khalil Gibran (1983-1931) is one of the most quoted prose poets, especially his 1923 work The Prophet. In The Prophet, we are told that Almustafa, a holy man, has been living in exile, in a city called Orphalese for twelve years. A ship is coming to take him home to the island of his birth. People gather and ask him for his final words of wisdom — on love, on work, on joy, on children. The book has become bedside reading for all those who consider themselves… Continue

New Age Currents: Book Review

Alice O. Howell
The Heavens Declare: Astrological Ages and the Evolution of Consciousness
(Wheaton, IL: Quest Books,2006, 281pp.)

There are a number of currents of thought which hold that humanity is coming to the end of an historical cycle and is entering into a new age with the start of the new millennium. The most widely spread of these currents of thought is a complex of ideas and practices known as the New Age or the Age of Aquarius. The contemporary New Age began as a movement based on as… Continue

Gandhi and Possible Middle East Mediation (Book Review)

Simone Panter-Brick
Gandhi and the Middle East
(London: I. B. Tauris, 2008, 193pp.)

The difficulties of establishing non-governmental mediation in a conflict is well illustrated in this study of the effort to have Mahatma Gandhi play a bridge-building role in the Jewish-Arab conflict of 1937 in Palestine. Mahatma Gandhi was a man of dialogue and compromise. A British-trained lawyer, he always knew the limits of the law and knew when not to push too far even in his satyagraha – non-violent campa… Continue

Hello Rene. Thanks for the friend request. Yes, it takes time to get familiar with how these sites work. Without really trying, I've become a member of six of them! Though not writing much to them all, maybe these non-physical connections are helping to build up in this somehow emerging global brain with its emerging global consciousness.

Everything's Amazing and Nobody's Happy

In a recent appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, stand-up comedian Louis C.K. offered a poignant and hilarious wake-up call when he pointed out one of the tremendous ironies of our time: the fact that, in the midst of the most highly evolved and technologically sophisticated civilization in human history, we still often overlook our incredible privilege and manage to feel strangely blasé about it all...
