There I go again. It must have gone into orb-land. I saw orbs on my digital photos I took on a ladies writing retreat in the Ozarks after a meditation session after a big storm. The sky looked rather threatening and everyone stood around in awe. I...

There was this woman I met in New Orleans who "claimed" to be an ascended master. Or some folks claimed her being one of the future "Order of Maitreyans." She talked of the Great White Brotherhood, which coincides with Bhlavasky's text. Very simil...

I am learning about numberology, do bear with me. My guess comes from the idea of the ancient scriptures of the trinity, seen even here in theosphy as stated in so many books, so that is the 3. The seven colors of the visible spectrum, the 7 rays ...

Hi, I have been on an extended trip to visit my daughter in Pittsburgh, my grandson and his family in Ohio (a precious 20 month old daughter and twin girls born 9-15, and then on to Savannah to visit my son and many other relatives and friends. I just found your email tonight. Getting caught up a little at a time. My visits were nothing short of WONDERFUL! Marie

It's Saturday and I've used the morning to re-cycle magazine, papers piled up. The TS group of (3 us anyway) went to a service at the local Hindu Temple last evening at 6pm. This is a small temple that serves the Hindu population in the Salt Lake Valley Cities. They are in the process of building Hindu Recreation Hall adjacent to the temple. The really beautiful Hindu temple, which is a hara Krishna one, is located south of Salt Lake City, just outside the small town of Spanish Fork, Utah. I've been there about 3 times. It is a popular destination around here for many groups. It is quite large, sits on a hill, has ample parking, lamas, big fish poind, birds outside. The surrounding countryside has not been built up yet, so it affords a wonderful view of the mountains and rest of the valley there. The temple building itself has two floors. The main floor has the most beaufitul white marble floor, is very spacious, has its dieties in niches, etc. The bottom floor houses a large boutique and the vegetarian buffet. The guy behind all this is a real powerhouse in getting things going. They have a superb website, have big celebrations of the Hindu holy days...people from all over come. They also have meditations, kirtan, etc. all the time. My favorite are the dancers he brings in...absolutely wonderful.

Did I mention I live across the street from an LDS (Mormon) church? I have an outstanding view of the Wasatch mountains which form half the ring around this valley. The church grounds extend one full block. Yesterday, the great church decided to cut down four of its trees; only one of which was 2/3 dead. The other 3 pines were mature; 2 were perfectly healthy, but one of the healthy ones had a bend in its truck, which the primary age children would sit on. I was so upset to see this, that I went over to the workmen and expressed my opinion about 'murdering' trees. I'm so templed to write a letter to the bishop (the bishop is the head guy of a ward in Mormondom). The trees were unique and beautiful; the building a cookie-cutter bland piece of cr.... like hundreds of others around here.

I didn't read much of Annie Besant's works until lately. I, like you, have come to appreciate her much more. I've often wondered, since she was known for her power of oratory, if somewhere in the Society's archives there isn't a recording of her speeches. She was alive in the 1920's and early 30s before her death, so there is a possibility something exists.

As usual, I've gone on and on. Do have a lovely weekend. Talk to you later, Ramona.

Hi Ramona!

I'm late answering. The Denver Study Center (Kathy Gann & group) had a bunch of extra copies of books in their library and sent us a list to choose any we wanted. We got a box full!! They really were kind to us! We house our library, books, study manuals, and the free CD that Olcott sends to groups at Claradene's house. I have some of he CDs at mine. Because we meet in a free-rent room at the main library, we do it this way as well. We have no new members, but have had regular attendance by two fellows (yes) for the past several meetings. One is a student in his 20's, and other in his 50's I think. We are studying the Mahatma Letters; we have given the the book and study guide and the fellows are savvy enough to read and ask questions and discuss! This is highly unusual, but both men are up to it! We have become cautious about membership, as we have lost all of the original group derived from Betty B's lecture !! Astounding, I know. People find us and say they will come....and never show up. We have a list of inquirers we inform each week before meetings, so we keep it going. I'm active in two other directions: Astrology and a Rumi Poetry Club. The last individual who saw our information online was one of the poetry club people. She still may come to TS. I'm tasked with getting a website done for SLC TS. Who was at Olcott Exp. who does this for TS groups? We have a little website type thing that a TS Group in Cardiff, Wales did for us. Just Google: Theosophy in Salt Lake City and it comes up. Let's keep in touch, Ramona.

I would imagine Bhavagad Gita would take several side books to get through it. I didn't know Algeo wrote one on it too. Maybe I can bring that up too to the lodge. I'll let you know how it unfolds.

Try this: http://www.theosophical.org/resources/selfstudy/Gita.pdf

It should bring up John's commentaries.

Thank you for telling me John Algeo has an intro to the Secret Doctrine;I'll look for it. I haven't read Key to Theosophy and plan on using it as a next course study. You do need a few different interpretations of thr Bhagavad Gita. It says an awful lot in a very few pages which means each word counts a lot. It is considered the heart of the Upanishads.
Enjoy you studies,
Jim

I'll be going to the fall camp the last weekend of this month. Weather should be perfect; I like the fall. It was hotter than usual at summer camp, as it was nearly 3 weeks later than normal. Hopefully, back to early June next year.

I think your good influence has sort of changed the priority of studying the Secret Doctrine to being part of a program with some meditation studies, some of Annie Beasant studies. I'm hoping now to run a little side jaunt with the Feet of the Master, a good reminder on living on the path. Light on the Path is another, I remember.

We are almost finished with The Divine Plan. Worth all the effort. STUDYING that book leaves you with a tremendous background in the esoteric sciences. I am planning on something a little lighter next: perhaps Collin's Light on the Path or Key to Theosophy. We are now studying the Bhagavad Gita in our Sunday members class. We are using John Algeo's commentary with it. Patanjali's Sutras is another choice.

Yes, hi Ramona. I believe we sat next to each other at the circle discussion you refer to.

You look good operating your.... Bobcat, is it?

Salt Lake City Study Center was official last July (08) after a one year probationary term and a year and 1/2 before that getting to the probationary year. Sadly, we've lost several members, and one who moved back to Mexico in June after her teaching assignment in the US ended. We've picked up three inquirers; I've ended my 2-year stint as Secretary for the study center. (Claradene Wycoff and I just changed hats!) We are currently studying the Mahatma Letters to A. P. Sinnett, using the Study Guide with it. We use open discussion when guests come, and have compiled our own papers w/TS quotes on the Masters, reincarnation, etc. We make up packets from our supply of TS pamphlets for visitors, along with displays at meetings (first and third Saturdays per month). We are building up our SC library through the great discount program offered by Olcott, including the free DVD's the centers have received this past year! We are able to meet in a room at the main Salt Lake City Library free of charge as we are listed as non-profit open to the public. Betty Bland lectured at this award-winning library and she was very impressed with the building.

Anyway, that's what we are up to. Feel free to visit us if you come this way. We are taking applications for new members!

I'm scheduled for knee replacement surgery next week, so I may be freer to read and communicate than in the past.

I should have my daughter the Graphics Artist add some photos to my site here. She has a recent one of me, but...ehhh...maybe, maybe not to post!
