Thank you for this interesting letter. It suggests that the point of self-consciousness is when the spirtual path of karma becomes a reality. Nothing is directly said about the soul of a fetus being exempt from the astral plane or any other of the post-death pathways, and I don't believe that self-consciousness is necessarilly lacking in a fetus more than a new born, so I remain uncomfortable with talk of exceptions, resets, etc. for aborted fetuses, suicides or any other specific category of being.
