Think on the great quote by Confucious, a lot of times I have published it and it looks like people won't see it. Here I go again: Through the shining righteousness from the heart, the character is made more beautiful; with the beauty of charac...

See I've read his biography and what I've learned from it is that he's got a real bad rep that is truly undeserved. His entire life's goal was to help free humanity from suffering. He was of a very high moral character, an honorable and noble huma...

Aleister Crowley called Theosophy a baby day care center for the newly initiated. I sort of agree. Has anyone heard of the Integral Institute started by Ken Wilber? He's started a new movement based on an information operating system that gives a...

About Me:
My name's Lenny. I like to read and learn. I want to be a theoretical physicists so that one day I can show to the world that spiritual truths are totally compatible with science; that in order for us to advance in our understanding of theoretical physics we have to take the miracle of life, consciousness, into consideration and, like Aleister Crowley said, "to show the scientific mind that even the most materialistic concept is ultimately mystical." I want to give humanity a few more things they can agree on.

Angel Boards and Demon Genies

Two nights ago, on August 16, 2009, I read about Angel Boards for the first time. Aleister Crowley used it to inquire of the future. I’m reading his autobiography and it’s really good. He was a great man despite the popular view towards him who loved humanity and worked to help us. For some reason he didn’t like theosophists that much even though he agreed with a lot of what H.P.B. said. Oh well.
Then, last night, Sebby asks me if I had ever heard of one before. “Weird,” he said when I told him… Continue

We will pretty much take any help we can get. Generally, we interview volunteers who offer to help out in order to find out what skills they have to offer, or what kind of work they would like to do--then we find things for them to do. I'm not really sure what else we need volunteers for.

I should refer you to our volunteer coordinator, Michele. You can reach her by email at info@theosophical.org .

Definitely interesting timing. After I read Katinka's post, I started thinking about coming in on Saturdays or something to work on uploading videos to YouTube. If you'd like to help with that, that would be great. I've sent an email to our AV guy, who is currently on vacation. He returns November 9th. I'll pick his brain and find out what we'd need to do to get started, and I'll get back to you.

Hi Lenny, No need for apology at all. I'm so glad that the whole movie wasn't like the first parts that I watched. And what I forgot to say in my post was that, regardless of what the movie is or isn't, if it led you to theosophy, then I'm glad they made it! I'll watch the whole thing when I get a chance--thanks for posting it on your page. It's a fascinating topic, and while I think some of it stems from misunderstanding, I believe that some of the concerns are true. Even so, we all seem to agree on the remedy--keep focusing on the good. You may also be interested in Dr. Steven Greer's work at www.disclosureproject.org. I just bought Dr. Greer's book for my son and was impressed with what I saw in the book--Dr. Greer approaches this topic from a spiritual standpoint. Interesting stuff.

Greetings Lenny, and welcome. I looked at the first two parts of the Wake-Up Call movie on youtube. Though I don't know if what they're alleging is true, I suspect it's like many other things--part true and part false. What I did notice is that it was distinctly designed to install fear, loathing, separateness, resentment--negative thoughts and emotions. That, in and of itself, speaks volumes to me about how much of my time and attention I'm willing to give it (not much). To the extent that any of it is true, the only antidote I know is the one you've already discovered--focus your thoughts on better things, look for the good in people rather than the bad. You get to choose your focus. I don't advocate sticking your head in the sand, and we have a responsibility to be aware; but I congratulate you on your decision to look for light rather than darkness in the world.

Hello Lenny. and welcome to our little community!

I too want to reiterate how nice it is to welcome a young person to our discussion, and see you've wasted no time in starting one yourself. Well done! There's no better way to introduce yourself than to jump right in!
I also joined the Theosophical Society at a young age when my parents became members, so I believe I can relate to your new fascination with Theosophy. Truth be known, more than 35 years later, I feel the same way!
I hope as the years pass, you will maintain this same fascination, and that you can find the time to attend some of programs at Olcott.

Once again .... it's nice to have you here.

Welcome Lenny! I discovered Theosophy when I was seventeen. I don't remember how I came across the organization exactly, probably from a magazine of some kind, but I requested a bunch of brochures on different featured subjects and they were sent to me. I've dabbled here and there for the next eight years to this day in studying Theosophy and continued my religious and spiritual studies. You're an inspiring person. I am happy to hear that in your questioning of the world, humanity and your life that you have found Theosophy and this theosophical community. Keep investigating. Ask for guidance and it will be there.

Hi, lenny
I am from Colombia. I became a M T S at 25, since that I have not stopped to read, study and trying to live according to my understanding of life and theosophical principles. I used to listen "heavy" music in 80´s, I remenber bands like Venom, Metallica, Motley Crue, Sodom, Poison, Sepultura, and Masacre and Athanathor (both from Medellín) and others, strangely the friend who closes that music to me used to do some breakdance movements while we chat. That way I became interested in Hip Hop culture, and left the "heavy" music for breakdance and rap... !what a change¡ Now I prefer classical music and others musics of the world. That process helped me to learn to understand and respect all peoples and all the musics they like. Now I am too interested on Scriabin, the classical musician who was too a theosophist and his synesthetical way of composing. Rudhyar also a musician, and a student of theosophy, said of scriabin that he was "the father of the future music". I am interested in Scriabin´s history. It is difficult to get his music for me hear in Colombia.
Nice "stay" at this community
