Have you read "Women in Buddhism" by Diana Paul? There's also wonderful, humorous teaching in the Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra (compiled about the time of Christ) about the right of women to pursue Buddhahood in the face of misogynistic attitudes as r…

Thank you. This makes sense; but do you think this is why Hatha Yoga was discouraged in early Theosophy? And later?

Hi Kara, People were more spiritual in the days of the Golden Yuga, they used Hatha Yoga as a way to be more aware in matter. I recommend Bhakti. Bhakti is the middle between spirit and matter, a bridge between them and also recommened by Wishnu, wh…

I very much agree with Odin and Alex. Tobacco seems to be a bit of an emotional anesthesia that allows a person to focus on writing and other intellectual work. I have close friends that smoke, and while I don't like being around the smoke itself,…

Roerich's Shambhala

Roerich's Shambhala by Kara LeBeau at TheosophyWatch.com

“Shamballa is the indispensable site where the spiritual world unites with the material one.”
-Nicholas & Helena Roerich

OVER 120 years ago, it was Helena Blavatsky who introduced the legacy of Shambhala to Western seekers, otherwise it might have remained hidden in the domain of a few scholars. “Shambhala” means “source of happiness” in Sanskrit.

James Hilton in 1933 further popularized the idea of Shambhala in his novel Lost Horiz… Continue

We often feature at TheosophyWatch stories and films, such as “The Living Matrix” or “Something Unknown is Doing Something We Don’t Know What,” about seemingly miraculous healings of people.

The theme of the latent healing power within ourselves weave… Continue

Pot of Miracles
July 7, 2009 by Kara LeBeau

An old strawberry pot was left near my back door when I moved in years ago. The base of it was actually broken clean from the rest of the pot, but I figured it was worthy enough to plant morning glories in for summer color.

Weeds grew in the little strawberry holes, so I’d yank them out. But one summer, an unu… Continue

Absolutely! But, I don't think they come along that often! ;-)
It is amazing the number of people that I tell about him and that includes in theosophy and it seems they are hardly impressed. What is it? I wonder if it is that people say they are interested in these "things" but, when it is there in front of them their minds won't allow them to be interested that way? Too busy putting thoughts in the way! Or, is that nothing really impresses them any more, or, is it that we are too much the doubting thomas? It is an interesting phenomenon.

Then i think to myself what if "we" were people 2000 years ago, this would actually be how people were toward "the real thing" 2000 years ago!
Just the same indifferences, disbeliefs, ego or self-interests that get in the way of actually "seeing" what is "for real"!

just some thought ! what do reckon? what does your friend reckon?

Hi Kara!
hmmm did I miss this note of yours? ...did i reply to you anywhere?
Well anyway, no, I did not meet him. A bookseller suddenly turned up at my office somewhere around June. I have now ordered and read 21 of his books. The Prosveta manager in Auckland, Susan, did meet and stay with OMA ! I do believe from all accounts that he was the real thing!
