My understanding is that Krishnamurti never left the Society. Someone once told me that after AB died K's bags were packed and left at the Gates of Adyar. In other words "go away". He never "officially" left the T.S. and I understand from those w...

You didn't caught the point. Steiner regarded Leadbeater and other theosophist anti-christian, as the latter (with Bailey) regarded reappearance of Christ (world-teacher) as the cyclic phenomenon, not the fulcrum of human history.

Great point Toni and the cyclic phases of organizations certainly fits the T.S. as any. It is interesting to speculate what phase the T.S. is in right now I guess. The Divine Wisdom as always been amongst us. We have probably heard that 1,000 tim...

Yes that is a very good point. From my perspective this Christian influence was not just Steiner or Bailey but also manifested clearly in the works of Besant and Leadbeater at the time. The all took the original Theosophical impulse and passed it...

Bailey in this respect is no different from Besant or Leadbeater. She with them supported a view about a world teacher (Christ or Maytreya) who incarnated in the disciple named Jesus. Yet they considered this phenomenon as cyclical and not as a fu...

Hello :) While I was reading this subject I remembered a course I took in political science about the Life cycle of organized groups, which somehow apply to the History of T.S. The course talked about a cycle composed of 4 periods: - The establish...

Thank you, John, for giving us these overviews of theosophical history. I think it is very helpful to hold the history in mind when you wish to help the forward movement of the Society. It helps one to see the balances and imbalances, as we have b...

Hi Dan, That is what makes this study so interesting. When you start to look at it like you have so many questions come up and it looks impossible. Your rational is a good one. The seven planets of Hindu astrology are normally the ones that we u...

Hi Kerry, Yes you do see a lot of intellectualism in the T.S. today. A lot of head learning with little heart to go with it. I would like to see this change and the T.S. embrace a service orientation as well as an academic one. However in the end...

Hi Mark, During the 2nd T.S. cycle which was the Besant/Leadbeater period we saw several splits from the original T.S. which often resulted in new organizations forming but this was not so in all cases. Anne Besant was a very powerful women of s...

I assume this is your discussion re: the 3 eras you refer to. I tend to disagree w/ your comments on Besant/Leadbeater. I think the break from the TS by K was a casting off of the psychic "dogmatic slumber" for the TS at that time. I also see the ...

Hi John,
Ohhhh, you can't imagine how delighted I am to see you on this TC.
I thought I'd cured my 'emotional excitements' with a bit of control from Buddhist teaching but here I am again..overly .excited to see you on this list.

Yesterday at Dear Dorothys funeral I fully intended to tell you something I've often wanted to tell you......

though you are probably unaware of it, I have been profoundly affected by so many things you have said over the years. I've always wanted to tell you what a very great influence you are in the life of this traveller. :)

I'm really interested to read your interests are The Theosophy as introduced by HPB and the Mahatma Letters. What do you know...I'm motivated to get back to the 'kernal of TS' myself...been reading Masters and Men by Virginia Hanson and devouring this TC site for more brilliant statements from HPB.
Methinks TS is way overdue to get back on it's intended course.

I'll watch out for any postings you make. Never a word wasted from you. I'm going to ask you to be my TC friend too. :) :) :)
