Haha - I have too many of these animated alien gifs, i can't resist sharing them =) To the question, ""Do they visit Earth?" I can't say for sure that they do, but Gilliland's videos are the mos...

These are all interesting questions. I can only offer conjecture, of course. Nabil asks if they're all the same... I would doubt that. Lets hope they are good, but Stephen Hawkings was probably ...

Yes indeed - Vivekananda is my main man, lol. In Chicago there is still a street downtown named after him since his arrival at the World's Fair and the Parliament of World Religions as you mention. Thanks, Art!

Oops, sorry - it is not my intention to belittle bhakti. The various yogas are there for our choosing. Some are more devotional, some more cerebral. I only meant that there are other paths since Ramakrishna insisted devotion was necessary. From a ...

About Me:
Not sure how to sum "me" up here, but I've always been a thinker and fascinated by the big questions. I've been interested in Theosophy since reading the wonderful biography H.P.B by Sylvia Cranston, though my studies haven't gone much farther than Blavatsky's writings. I've spent more time with Vedanta and Buddhism (esp. Tibetan). Rational, scientific investigation of spirituality and mysticism are my thing - I hope blind faith will no longer be seen as necessity one day.

"Do not care for doctrines, do not care for dogmas, or sects, or churches, or temples; they count for little compared with the essence of existence in each man, which is spirituality; and the more this is developed in a man, the more powerful is he for good. Earn that first, acquire that, and criticise no one, for all doctrines and creeds have some good in them. Show by your lives that religion does not mean words, or names, or sects, but that it means spiritual realization. Only those can understand who have felt. Only those who have attained to spirituality can communicate it to others, can be great teachers of mankind. They alone are the powers of light."
--Ramakrishna
Religious/Spiritual Path:
my own, inspired by Buddhism, Vedanta, Western Pagan Traditions
Aspects of Theosophy I am most interested in:
Consciousness, Mysticism, Cosmology...
Favorites (books, music, movies, etc.):
i'll fill this out later

"Kill Buddhism" by Sam Harris

This is an excerpt. The article appeared in Shambala Sun magazine, and can be read in it's entirety here:

“Kill the Buddha,” says the old koan. “Kill Buddhism,” says Sam Harris, author of The End of Faith, who argues that Buddhism’s philosophy, insight, and practices would benefit more… Continue

Blavatsky On God and Prayer

(I offer this in support of my contention that Theosophy rejects the notion of a personal god, or creator as a separate being.)

This section is from the "The Key to Theosophy" book, by H. P. Blavatsky.

My home has an open door so when you manage to get to New Zealand you are welcome to take tea with me and if you need a bed that will also be available. In the meantime I look forward to our further communications. Regards and blessings to you

Greetings Jeff

Just cruising through the Theosophical site and have been reading your postings on ‘Can Theosophy Change the World’ and I wanted to say that I was initiated into the OTO (New Zealand), my choice over BOATA, and perhaps not the best choice from a retrospective point of view, however this was in the late 1970’s, I was in my early 20’s and I wanted to explore the practice of magik. I remained in said organisation for a few years working my way through degrees. Anyway I am digressing … what I wanted to say was that I think your comments on Crowley are spot on - well at least from my perspective. Thank you. I do not often refer to this experience as it is tainted with prejudicial views of patriarchy having found the OTO filled with very sexist men. Even so I think we share or have shared similar paths in our spiritual journey and I just wanted to acknowledge that. And I most certainly agree with you on the state of ego and not just for Crowley….. “It is the ego and preoccupation with the self that causes one to fall”
Blessings of light and love to you

DOL! at least I don't need tires. I have been looking for the new Jewish tire, it stops on a dime... ...and picks it up as well!! I've literally had only the street as a place to live. I simply lived this way and still behaved the same. it appears the Bible is correct in places, consider the lillies of the field... they don't worry... what tomorrow brings.
