Many in this web community have not had the occasion to learn about some of the events that have shaped the modern TS. For example: Why did Kirshnamurti leave the TS? Why did Steiner leave? Why did Judge leave? How did organizations like the Liberal Catholic Church, the Free Masons and the Theosophical Order of Service come to be associated with so many TS members? What was A. Besant in jail for? What was HPB doing in Bhutan? Who were those people HPB ran into in Egypt? Where did HPB and HSO meet? Why did they move from New York and set up shop in India? Who was Damodar? What is Kiu-te?

Probably the best biography of Annie Besant which answers some of the questions asked are the two volumes by Arthur Nethercot:
