I find myself suddenly wondering if it might not be wise to be moderate even in pursuing a life of moderation. In other words, life is measured largely not by the number of breaths taken, but by the number of moments one's breath is taken away...

Yes. "Inner breathing" releases one from the influences of outside moderation and/or extremism...

I try to follow the Buddha’s Middle Way but I don’t get overly upset at myself when I occasionally experience an extreme. I don’t like it when to go to an extreme but I realize I am not perfect yet but I have confidence that someday I will reach that state of perfection. In the interim as I pursue that state of perfection, I will laugh at myself and tolerate myself when I find myself experiencing these occasional extreme episodes.

Thank you for your continuing stimulating comments. What you say is true, but, I believe, is really a somewhat different topic than "moderation."

Of course all is related and your comments are always welcome...

For me, this is a very unifying and uplifting song. I feel I am hearing the Ultimate Reality of our universe speaking to me.

I find that sometimes I will take an extreme stand on an issue then when I realize the flaws in my view I flip to the other extreme. I think that perhaps these extremes are just another tool for facilitating growth because in my experience extremes usually lead to the center and often with a more complete understanding of the whole picture than if we are a "fence-sitter" from the get-go. Just another example of how such things are never so "black and white" as we often like to tell ourselves.

When the Medusa Head was shown...everybodies Breath was taken away...most people survived, the fake ones perished...and were flushed down the 8th sphere...
Then The Hero wrapped the Head into a Bag and threw it into the heavens where it still is today namely:
The Snakebearer, the 13th Moon...but I will be modest now, else I'll be moderated :-)

The 2-dimensional, into the third, and then beyond.

You have been caught Martin, and now you must confess the truth

Come now, what do you know about the snakes on Medusa's head? How many where there?

And you must also answer these questions
Is the 13th moon real? Can we ever see it or feel it?
