Some time ago I placed a very clear written subject from Geoffrey Hudson as blog Clairvoyence and the serpent fire( called kundalini).

While Arundale gave out a book on kundalini, he does not tell anything. Now times are changing and everyone can inform whatever he or she likes( in past times that could not, was closed only people in specialistic way could inform themselves, so good this is changed) Never the less if you ask your privat doctor for chakra's he mostly looks like you have it about animals.

Now I have the question after studying Leadbeaters book on chakra's he wrote that
their is a different way in the working Ida and Pingala for woman and man.
what in the man is right is in the woman left.
Who realy knows that truth?

Christina,

I used to teach Yoga at a Hindu Temple and later at a Community Center and breathing exercises followed our Hatha Yoga routine..

But I'm attaching some sites that give what I think is a pretty good explanation:

Generally the left is Ida and is more lunar and feminine and the right Pingala is more solar and male..

Breathing through the right nostril is for more energy and alertness while the left nostril is for more cooling..so depending on the situation you need cooling or more energy..In Yoga with posture erect breathing through either nostril will accomplish what is needed.. Alternate nostril breathing is also important.

Also regular cleansing of the nostrils is important to facilitate the process and for better meditation. So one needs to cleanse the nostrils every day using warm saline solution and poured gently using gravity and this will be salutary for health as well.

I would say for most people this practise needs some supervision and follow through to be successful so that's why perhaps George Arundale does not deal in some specifics as it requires more supervision to practise.

Thank for giving the Url's it is not that I need to practice it, but I only want to know.
I think the best way is to wait till evolution is ready for doing so.We have enough on every day purificating our minds and souls.
Indeed the cleansing is very important, for the whole body.In the morning take shower, to clean from the negative of the night and so on.
In this way I notice that a lot of people need to take care of that. Vedas teaches very well.

But no problem for that, if not the first principles have been done, the others will not succeed.
I have a lot of work from Anodea Judith , but that never works if we have not mastered our lower parts and keep them clean.

Hahah this picture I know from Johari Harish.
I have one seeing lectured Zionistic breathing lessons in our lodge , for years ago and I see a priest in our group doing so wrong, that I thought it would kill the man. After not a long time we stopped such lessons, for what is good for the one is bad for the other.Everybody have its own way, but not everyone is allert(aware) to that.Same with sport, if there is no good guide it hurts more than it prevents.
People need to look very well after themselves, what they can and what they cannot.Andwhat we cannot, no problem at all.In tat we are not All the Same. That we need to accept.
Arthur,
Thank you for those links! They are great - especially the tantra-kundalini link. Very nice!
Thanks Arthur, this are very good sites.
Also I have not found that there is any difference in IdaPingala system to man or woman.
as there is mentioned in yin and yang in man is opposite as in woman.
I don't know exactly but in Buddhist and Bonpo practices women and men are recommended to sleep on different sides. Probably there's some connection with this different way of working.
Hahaha , very few people sleep on one side whole night and it has nothing to do with sleeping.Me myself am Tina Turner in my sleep.(LOL) but true.

I ordered the book from Johari Harish on Chakra's and sure he will give the answer. I will let you know.Than we know Leadbeater did not wrote nonsense.
Harish Johari has some excellent visualizations.
If you sleep say on one side..say the left side it will open the right nostril and that will mean a predominance of the Pingala nadi and vice versa..

If you have one nostril that is stuffed up place pressure under the arm pit on the opposite side.. thus if the left nostril is obstructed put pressure on the under side of the right arm pit. You can also use the back of a chair under the arm pit. It's a simple way to open one side or the other.

Check to see if both your nostrils are open now. If you cannot draw air through let us say the Right nostril and blowing the nose is no remedy, then try the following:
Place the closed right fist (in this case) under the left armpit and press the arm down so that the knuckles press into a spot on the underside of the arm and on the torso also. It is important that you find the 'right spot' that will be quite tender. Holding this position, take some deep breaths maintaining the pressure for a minute or two. It is usual that if the nostril is blocked for no other reason, simple nerve pressure in this manner will be successful and for a time both nostrils will then be free. Be patient until you are successful. Of course reverse the process in the case of a blocked Left nostril.

But as I mentioned above it depends on your purpose.. say you feel lethargic.. You might try breathing in through the right nostril and gently exhaling through the left nostril. If you are upset and nervous try breathing in through the left nostril and exhaling from the right.

But it is probably best to personally consult with a Yoga instructor who has had experience in these areas and not rely a lot on the internet.
Thanks for the info, but what Leadbeater wrote is ; that the pingala in man correspondences opposite from the woman.Of course same with Ida. So what is the right side for the man is the left side for the woman. We have worked in a yoga seminar on Raja yoga and I personally learned all from an Indian theosophical teacher from which teachings I made a total book for myself with experiences in colors and so.Also we discussed for a few years by correspondences. But later when I looked back at the Leadbeater book I came over this question. So what for the man works is opposite to the woman. I think in this way it can be important for all of us. Also the teacher give different colors for the chakra's.But same with Indian books. But I think that is not of any importance. We have had in several years with a group all the same meditations and one saw different colors from another, while there were several have had the same colorexperiences. So that have to do with our vibrational world and on what kind of level we already are.
Christina,

Thanks for your comments..

"...that the pingala in man correspondences opposite from the woman."

I think it depends.. and while I applaud lectures and studying hypothetical situations there's no substitute for actual practise and as we are corresponding here through internet I would urge anyone who wants to really pursue this on their own to do so with a competant instructor.

All that aside though there is an instructive graphics on the process that delineates it even better than some of the earlier charts at

My regards..
