Important books - www.AnandGholap.net - Online Theosophy

This is one of the most important books every student of Theosophy and most importantly officers in Theosophical Society should study. It is important because it gives most valuable inputs for deciding direction of the Theosophical Society.

Anand When did Mr Hodson write this?
He has a tendency to overwrite his points sometimes.
I saw Krishnamurti myself in Ojai and I would take issue with some of his conclusions.
Thanks for posting this. Very thought provoking.

Oh my God
There are so many Peters in here

Must you put your fingers in my wound to accept me as real
Aren't my words good enough?

I may not live up to my potential
But I am a good man still

I may not understand much of the spoken word
But I am here
And stay I will

On my shoulder is a heavy load
Food for the family
From last night’s kill

I lay down to sleep thinking
Not mine, but your will

I am only a man

Interesting thread discussion. It seems to have become a side track of the original thread post (if I might add- which is quite an analogy of the way humans embrace the teachings from the originators of their respective spiritual traditions). I would love to contribute to this thread in a most meaningful way- one that incorporates both the truth behind the mystery of Jesus and exploring/expounding upon the writing of Mr. Hodson. However, before doing so, perhaps there could be an actual discussion about the link offered by Anand? I would be most curious to see what those who have contributed to this thread have to say about "Krishnamurti and the Search For Light" in particular. Your thoughts?

Thank you for this valuable historical document from our theosophical history I had not before read Hodson's views on Krishnamurti. I am not in sympathy or empathy with Hodson's perspectives. It appears to me to be a theosophical belief system based upon of cosmology rooted in reactionary tradition bound jingoism, very 19th century Anglo-Catholic romantic in it's values and expressions of what merits worth as a metaphysical concept. Hodson like Ledbeater had no point of reference, no common language and thus no comprehension of a spiritual cosmology based upon a advaita/Buddhimanas exploration of the nature of mind and reality as expressed by K after 1929. Their comfortable conservative and ultimately racist Victorian world was escaping their control based upon the flawed scientific empiricism of the 18th century. This resulted in the worst type of spiritual materialism infecting the the theosophy of the TS which I attribute to the Besant/Ledbeater influence upon the formative "second generation" years of the TS. K's teachings though not perfect by any means, offers a more honest self inquiry by "directly pointing at reality."

Hi Mark,
amazing response!
I side with Hodson's perceptions.
I wonder if that makes me...

Crikey dicks!

First you're going to have to translate the Aussie-speak of "crikey dicks"? Sounds rather naughty to the American ear...lol

I doubt that you are those elements, remember to recognize the problem is half way to resolving it. :-) Have you read the bio on Ledbeater by Gregory Tillett, "The Elder Brother"? He loved Australia but loathed his years in India.

Best wishes Kerry!

i haven't read his "stuff" yet. But saw somewhere he went to Perth.
I've still got a lot of study to do as only been in society 18 months! there are so many threads to pickup .
Yes, Aussie speak is sometimes NZ speak, but, when I was 17, first went to Aussie, one of first conversations I had with one of them ended with the guy saying something and I said "aye?" and then I said something and he said "aye?". It was like due to accents and colloquialisms we could barely understand each other. Funny huh, yet we're only 1600 km away! ....yes, trying to look at it out of cultural context it does appear naughty, i guess it colud be translated as the Brit "oh my gosh!" ha hah harr!

My apologies! I knew you were in NZ and said Aussie. Mea culpa. Funny story re: "aye". LOL Here in the states some deep southern & extreme New England accents make me wonder if we're speaking the same language as well.

A belated welcome to TS Kerry! I've been a member since 1974 & love the comraderie & intellectual stimulation & opportunities for personal growth. A good friend once asked me "why do you enjoy being a member of the TS?" My answer came quickly- they are the least judgmental people I have ever met. A rare gift in this modern world.
